ZZ Plant "Zamioculcas Zamiifolia" - Plant (Combo Pack of 2)

The ZZ Plant is scientifically known as Zamioculcas Zamiifolia. It is a stunning tropical perennial known for its glossy, deep-green, black waxy leaves that add a touch of elegance to any space. Native to Eastern Africa, particularly Tanzania and Zanzibar. This plant thrives in warm, dry conditions and is admired for its incredible hardiness and low maintenance. Perfect as an indoor plant. The ZZ Plant can tolerate low light, irregular watering, and neglect. It ideal for homes and offices.

One of its most remarkable specialities is its ability to purify indoor air by removing toxins like xylene and toluene, with its upright growth and attractive foliage. It’s not just a decorative piece but a symbol of prosperity and resilience—a perfect choice for modern interiors and beginner gardeners alike.

Growing Requirements

Sunlight for ZZ Plant

Your ZZ Plant thrives best in bright, indirect sunlight but can easily adapt to low-light conditions. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, as harsh rays can scorch its glossy leaves. It’s an ideal choice for shaded corners, offices, or rooms with filtered natural light.

Watering

Your ZZ Plant requires minimal watering. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, as overwatering can cause root rot. Water every 2–3 weeks, depending on indoor conditions, and reduce watering during winter months.

Fertilizing for ZZ Plant

Fertilize your ZZ Plant once every 2–3 months during the growing season (spring and summer) using a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Avoid over-fertilizing, as the plant grows slowly and requires minimal nutrients to stay healthy and lush.

Planting and Care

Container

Choose a well-draining container for your ZZ Plant, preferably one with drainage holes to prevent waterlogging. A ceramic, terracotta, or plastic pot works well, as long as it allows excess water to escape, keeping the roots healthy and rot-free.

Pruning

Prune your ZZ Plant occasionally to remove yellow or damaged leaves and maintain its neat shape. Use clean, sharp scissors or shears, and trim at the base of the stem. Pruning also encourages new, healthy growth and keeps the plant looking fresh and vibrant.

Propagation

Your ZZ Plant can be easily propagated through leaf cuttings, stem cuttings, or division. For best results, place cuttings in water or well-draining soil until roots develop. Propagation is slow but rewarding, producing new plants that retain the same hardy and attractive qualities.

Repotting

Repot the ZZ Plant every 2–3 years or when it becomes root-bound. Choose a pot one size larger with good drainage and use a well-draining potting mix. Repotting helps refresh the soil, promotes healthy root growth, and keeps the plant thriving.

Common Pest

The ZZ Plant is generally pest-resistant but may occasionally attract spider mites, mealybugs, or scale insects. Wipe the leaves regularly and treat infestations with neem oil or insecticidal soap. Keeping the plant clean and dry helps prevent pest problems effectively.
