The tropical coconut tree, known as the "tree of life" or "nariyal" in Hindi, is native to coastal India, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands. It has a tall, slender trunk and lush, green foliage. It provides food, shelter, and income for many in these regions.

Tropical people rely on coconuts for food and nutrition. Coconut white flesh, rich in fibre, vitamins, and minerals, is used in cooking, baking, and as a natural sweetener. Coconut water, a natural electrolyte drink, is a popular drink.

Coconut tree produce products used in food, cosmetics, and construction, providing income for many people. The coconut's husk and shell are used to make coir, a strong, durable fibre used to make ropes and other products, while the tree's trunk and leaves make baskets, mats, and roofing materials.
